Mazatapec is a variety of Psilocybe cubensis. This variety’s natural habitat is the mountainous Mazatapec region of Mexico and is one of the first varieties to be introduced to western culture. In nature their fruiting bodies are of average size, and their cap shape is bulb shaped. The fruit color range between shades of brown to gold have a slender elongated stem. These mushrooms have gills which vary from whitish to purple-brown. The prints are dark purplish brown to violet brown.
