Great Mycelial Energy Source
Dry Malt Extracts are water soluble extracts used as nutrients for mycology. The process of making malt extract involves steeping grain in water to allow germination. This step allows enzymes to break down starches in the grain into sugars which can later be fermented into alcohol. After the grains are steeped, the liquid is drained off and the remaining solids are dried in large kilns. The resulting product is known as malt extract.
The main components of malt extract are carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. It contains about 50% carbohydrate content, which makes it a good source of energy for strong mycelial growth.
